LITURGY OF THE WORD

(Seat)

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (John 2, 1-11)

May the Lord be with you!

- And also with you!

A reading from the Holy Gospel, according to John.

- Glory to you, Lord!

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine." "Dear woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied, "My time has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now." This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

T. Amen

NUPTIAL BLESSING

(Stand)

P. Let us pray to the Lord for Danielle and Blake who come to God’s altar at the beginning of their married life so that they may always be united in love for each other.

P. Holy Father, you created mankind in your own image and made man and woman to be joined as husband and wife in union of body and heart and so fulfill their mission in this world.

Father, to reveal the plan of your love, you made the union of husband and wife and image of the covenant between you and your people.

Lord, grant that as they begin to live this sacrament they may share with each other the gift of your love and become one in heart and mind as witnesses to your presence in their marriage. Help them create a home together (and give them children to be formed by the gospel and to have a place in your family)

Give your blessings to Danielle, your daughter, so that she may be a good wife and mother, caring for the home, faithful in love to her husband, generous and kind. Give your blessings to Blake, your son, so that he may be a faithful husband and a good father.

Father, grant them as they come together to your table on earth, so that they may one day have the joy of sharing your feat in heaven.

(We ask this) through Christ our Lord.

T. Amen.

FINAL BLESSING

P. God the eternal Father keep you in love with each other, so that the peace of Christ may stay with you and be always in your home.

T. Amen.

P. May your children bless you, your friends console you and all men live in peace with you.

T. Amen.

P. May you always bear witness to the love of God in this world so that the afflicted and the needy will find in your generous friends, and welcome you into their joys of heaven.

T. Amen.

P. And may the almighty God bless you all, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

T. Amen.
